What was our last French Film Night like?
The film evening on Thu 9 March was brilliant. The size of the room was good, the seats well positioned, the screen and sound perfect and the snacks welcome. Definitely a good idea for everyone to bring their own drinks. I loved the film although I must confess I would have been lost without the sub-titles but it was good to listen to the language.
Thanks for organising this Carole and I would definitely attend a future film soirée.",

"A successful Soirée
On the evening of 9th March, the Monday French Conversation Group met up in St Peter's Community Centre for a Film Soirée. The film chosen was "Untouchable" starring Omar Sy and François Cluzet (English subtitles in evidence). The Class Members made it a real social occasion, bringing popcorn, biscuits, fancies, and a wide range of beverages, mostly non-alcoholic. The choice of film was excellent; a serious subject - the caring of a paraplegic, badly injured in a skydiving accident - was told with a sprinkling of humour, allied to the juxtaposition of two divergent lifestyles - the luxurious surroundings of the paraplegic contrasting to that of his carer, a street lad, just out of prison, a drug user, and, who, one might have thought, would have made an unsuitable carer, but who, eventually, turned out to be an amazing, indispensable companion. And, a brilliantly poignant conclusion...
The evening was voted such a success, that there are already tentative plans afoot for another such soirée, later in the year."
