Your Italian tutor:
Pauline is our Italian teacher. Living in Italy as a child, Pauline is fluent in Italian. She runs Italian for Beginners and Follow-on Italian Evening Classes, as well as teaches students on a one-to-one basis in various locations, at home or at work, wherever is convenient.
She started teaching English to Italian companies at the Benedict School in Modena in 1976 and has taught and interpreted both English and Italian at a very intense level for many years (besides having lived and set up businesses over 25 years in both countries). With her vast experience Pauline has abundant knowledge of lots of ‘quirky tips’ to help you remember things easily.

Testimonials
Pauline is a really really good teacher and she makes the lesson interactive and relates it to what you want to achieve from it For me the 1:1 lessons are more beneficial as we can work to my own pace and in just 2 lessons it has supported my knowledge from the basic beginner classes to trying to build on this and I feel I am more confident in attempting sentences now. A classroom environment is also good and Pauline adapts the lesson to the group which is excellent. You need someone to be approachable and helpful and she does make you feel at ease with it. I will be continuing until I crack it!

I thoroughly enjoy my Italian lessons with Pauline; her ability to explain the complexity of the language via fun and exciting methods of teaching has allowed me to learn Italian at a fast pace. I have not only improved in my Italian speaking and reading ability but also in my ability to understand Renaissance Italian, which is of great benefit to my research as a PhD student. I always look forward to our sessions each week!

As somebody who endeavours to improve her skills in a language whilst working as a linguist in a multilingual environment, I was looking for tailor-made lessons rather than a language course that follows a specific curriculum. Arrangements I was able to make through Lingua Lessons and Pauline as a teacher have worked out perfectly for me. Pauline is an incredibly flexible teacher, who has been able – even at short notice – to meet my needs and support me with my learning goals. We have collaboratively decided on areas to study and Pauline has given me expert advice how to improve my competency in Italian. Initially, I just intended to have some booster sessions to help me pass the B2 language qualification (according to the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages [CEFR]). However, after successfully passing the exam, I decided to continue with lessons to keep up the level of Italian. I might even try to reach the next level (C1) one day and I am confident that Pauline will help me through this stage as well as she has done for the B2 qualification.
